Dissatisfaction with
Association e-Marketing...
There has been quite a bit of chatter recently in the ASAE & The Center list-server discussion groups about frustration with performance of tools that handle e-marketing.
During my session at the ASAE Membership and Marketing Conference in Baltimore, I asked the audience what steps they have taken to increase their success metrics. Do they send the right content to the right audience, at the right time? Have they segmented their community and only sent messages where relevancy will be evident? Do they pro-actively work to have messages pre-approved?
My point is while the tool used is important, the work associations do to create relationships through email is just as critical to delivery rates, click-throughs and other measures of success.

My association, NAHB, has more than 220,000 members nationwide and I was charged with migrating from paper-based communications to electronic.
Working with CommPartners - their designers and programmers - we were able to develop more than 30 specialized e-newsletters, including a weekly e-newspaper to the entire membership.
Our project actually inspired the creation of NewsManager, to accommodate the advanced interactive functionality we wanted. They built a fully-managed solution to meet our needs and we're still working with CommPartners creating new ways to engage our members. Our communications are more effective and timely than ever.
